Dan Andrews has been known to his friends as Odd for over two decades, and known to his family as odd for longer than that. Dan grew up between New England, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East, traveling extensively and experiencing the world’s and its people’s diversity through the lens of a perpetual outsider.
While everyone else shared the experience of losing touch with their community spaces during 2020, Dan realized they were mourning the loss of something he had never experienced. After focusing on developing and fostering LGBTQ+ friendly online spaces during the pandemic quarantine, when the lockdown ended he immersed himself in the alternative lifestyle community of Charlotte in 2023.
In pursuit of his intention to help develop and foster safe spaces for everyone, Dan joined the non-profit organization CAPEX, the Charlotte Area Power Exchange (capex.info) and has been serving on their board of directors since January 2025.
Whether the participants of alternative lifestyle practices (Kink/BDSM/ENM) know it or not, they are engaging in political action by acknowledging their activities in any capacity. In the coming months and years, the front lines and terms of engagement regarding the political activity in the United States will be driven by the people who have the most to lose. To that end, Dan has joined the Boots On The Ground organization as the Chapter Lead of the Carolina’s branch. B.O.T.G. of the Carolinas aims to bring important updates regarding civic rights, opportunities to make a difference, and alerts to the political landscape of both North and South Carolina.
